Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast Cancer Awareness

Millions of people around the globe have participated in the Breast Cancer Awareness month for a good course. Every year, thousands are screened and the number has been on the rise in the recent years. In a woman’s lifetime, she has a 12.5 percent chance of having breast cancer, but only 1 percent of the men are prone to the disease. The Breast Cancer Awareness Month is done annually to help create awareness about the killer disease. Failure to diagnose it early enough may lead to death, but it can be treated if noticed at the early stage. Supporters and survivors aim to spread educational materials that can help women to detect the disease early enough and reduce the risk of metastatic or advanced breast cancer.

Cum4K - Support SeriesCum 4k Support

It’s extremely interesting to know that this brand new series of adult productions called Cum 4K support the awareness of breast cancer. You might ask what Cum 4K is? It’s simple – imagine internal cumshots and creampies delivered to your PC or mobile device in superb 4K (called Ultra Definition) quality. It means you are going to enjoy the very best content in every little detail.

Raising Funds

Stay Healthy

Other than publicizing early detection methods and breast cancer facts, the majority of organizations use October as a prime opportunity to solicit funds that help in breast cancer research. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation has given a clear intention of eliminating breast cancer. To do this, the foundation is operating under the theme: No more losing loved ones to breast cancer; No more hospital visits; No more needless suffering or side effects. However, the goal cannot be realized without conducting thorough research. Research is the only way to end breast cancer.

Apart from doing the research work, Susan G. Komen Foundation conveys that though millions of people may benefit from advanced technological treatments, a lot of them may die since they have no adequate access to reliable cancer care. Therefore, the foundation focuses on fighting the killer disease from the laboratories to the streets. It is imperative to spread awareness to help reduce deaths, which could have been avoided if the economic, social, and cultural barriers were addressed.

Be Breast Aware

If every woman takes the initiative of having her breasts checked, a whopping 1500 lives could be saved each year. As it stands currently, less than half of all women go for regular checkups. The rest are left exposed to the risk of death since no one can tell whether a woman has cancer until the right tests are done.

What Else Can One Do?

There are numerous ways that one can support or get involved before, during, and after the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. From sharing information with any person, who is interested, to vigorously campaigning to help women get access to the drugs they need, your little support will help in terminating the monster – Breast Cancer.

Symptoms That Indicate The Alarming Condition

Breast cancer can be very dangerous if not found in its early stages. As earlier stated the best way to prevent it is to know all about yourself and your body. To know how your breasts should look and feel is a part of that awareness. This helps to identify if when changes occur. This is important because if breast cancer is found in its early stages then it is possible to successfully cure it. Otherwise it can be a death sentence.

There are many symptoms that might appear in a woman’s body that could be attributed to the early signs of cancer.

This article will thus discuss common and some uncommon symptoms that can alert you of any negative changes in your body:

Lumps:

“A lump is formed when some tissues for some reason become hardened in the breasts.”

A lump is formed when some tissues for some reason become hardened in the breasts. Lumps or mass as they are called sometimes are one of the most common symptoms that show up in breast cancer cases. It is quite easy for any woman to check for these lumps, even at home. Checking for them is really simple and best done in the shower or while lying down.

To check, use your fingers. Move your fingers in a gentle and circular motion around the breasts. The pattern of movement should be from the outside to the inside, thoroughly checking the breasts and the armpits. While moving the fingers you should also check for any hardened part or thickening of the breast. If there are lumps, then medical professionals should be speedily consulted. These checks should be done around once or twice a month. However, not all lumps are caused by breast cancers. But if a lump is discovered, medical advice and investigation is heartily recommended.

Change In The Appearance Of The Breast And Nipples

A change in the appearance of the breast is one of the most familiar symptoms of breast cancer.

If you know how your breast should normally look then it is easy spotting any difference or departure from its normal appearance. You should consult the doctor if you notice that your breasts are different from what you are used to.

Other things to watch out for include:

  • Any sudden change in size that should not be there or which is not a part of growth.
  • Any change in the shape of the breast.
  • If you notice any swelling in your breasts. Swelling can also be the effect of environment or food but if you notice this swelling in only one breast then it might be a problem to be investigated.
  • If you notice any shrinkage in the breasts that should not be happening then it may be an indication that a proper test needs to be done.
  • It is a fact that most women do not have similar looking. While the breasts might differ if the difference noticeably increases then the reason should be investigated.
  • Notice your nipples. Check whether they are inverted or turned slightly inward. This can often be a sign
  • Check whether the skin of the breasts, nipples and the area around the nipples are not reddish in color. Swelling in these areas can be an indication that you need to schedule a checkup.

Discharge From The Nipples:

“When there is a discharge of milky, oily or blood liquid from the nipples then it might be due to breast cancer and a doctor needs to be urgently consulted.”

When women breastfeed their infants it is natural process as these milk glands produce milk. But when there is a discharge of milky, oily or blood liquid from the nipples then it might be due to breast cancer and a doctor needs to be urgently consulted.

Skin Thickening:

Another factor that could be a symptom of breast cancer is the thickening of the skin or a part of the breast. This might be due to the presence of a cancerous tumor below it. Redness and scaling of the nipples are also among the symptoms of breast cancer. A point to be noted here is that the thickening of skin can also be caused by other environmental factors. But these are temporary conditions and if these symptoms do not disappear days and weeks later then it is advisable to go to a doctor and for a breast cancer check-up.

Swelling In The Armpits:

It is not always necessary that breast cancer symptoms show up on the breasts only. The armpits are also connected to nerves that originate from the breasts. Sometimes, swelling in the armpits appear even before the development of lumps in breasts.

To identify that kind of symptoms it is necessary to periodically have mammograms.

Getting diagnosed with cancer can have very bad effects on anyone if care is not taken. It can be very challenging to handle. Patients usually experience very hard times while suffering from the disease.

Breast cancer has a bad effect not only on the physical health but also on the mental health. The person diagnosed with the disease needs positive support from friends and family members.

If you have breast cancer it is important to remain positive, to stay in touch with loved ones and to carry on with your life in-between treatment.

Sometimes the values with which you have been brought up can have effects on your thinking and attitude during your treatment. These are the steps to be followed during the treatment phase of breast cancer.

Get Support From Family Members And Friends:

“The family members should give their full support to the patient.”

The support of family members can be very important in this phase. The person suffering should not be neglected. They should be treated as they usually are. The family members should give their full support to the patient. This can be a hard time for anyone. But losing hope or showing negativity to the patient is not a good thing.

Consulting And Support Groups:

There are various consulting groups that are run by some hospitals and individual people for the support of people diagnosed with breast cancer. These can be consulted and will have information on the many ways patients can keep themselves busy and not unduly worry about the disease. They also usually possess people who might have suffered from breast cancer in the past but survived it. For the cancer patient the stories and experiences of these people who successfully fought breast cancer can be immensely encouraging. While their support can be invaluable.

Hope:

“If you are having a bad time then do not ever lose hope.”

{Note to the developer: Kindly link “hope” to the article How can you help as a human to Spread Awareness}

Hope is one thing that keeps humans moving. Times can be bad or good. But one good thing about time is that it changes. If you are having a bad time then do not ever lose hope. Keeping your hope alive also keeps your confidence level high. And if you hope to get well soon then your medicines will work much more efficiently.

Anger:

People who are diagnosed with cancer often tend to feel angry because they think “Why me?” Trust me it is normal to be angry but that won’t help you. During your treatment an angry mood makes a negative impact on your physical health and mental health.

Moreover, these are the things that you should avoid during breast cancer treatment:

  • Do not slip into depression. This will hurt not only you but also your family members.
  • Do not ever get sad during your treatment. Believe you will get through it.
  • Do not feel guilt. Do not link the disease to your past actions. There is no benefit to that. You should rather focus on making your treatment a success.

Do not feel lonely because you were diagnosed with disease. Mix with your family and friends and work towards a happier mood.

How Can You As A Human Help To Spread Awareness?

  • Posted By RakSutka.org
  • on October 14,2017

In today’s world knowledge is the first step towards the prevention of a disease. As a human, we all should take it as a noble duty to spread awareness about breast cancer. The following are some things you can do to make people more aware of the disease:

Cancer Awareness Month:

“The cancer awareness month for the year 2017 starts on October 1 and ends on October 31st.”

The cancer awareness month for the year 2017 starts on October 1 and ends on October 31st. During the cancer awareness month, we should participate in all the activities that help make the youth aware. As we have shown, women who are above the age of 45 are more prone to the disease. So, we must personally consult women in these age group and inform them of at least how they can personally examine themselves at home for signs of breast cancer.

Pink Ribbon:

The pink ribbon is the symbol for breast cancer awareness. It is a part of breast cancer advocacy. Breast cancer advocates help to raise funds for better care and to provide more knowledge of the disease. The pink ribbon signifies that you are aware of the causes, risks and prevention of breast cancer. Sometimes, this ribbon is used as a brand to raise money for the treatment of needy people who would be otherwise unable to afford the treatment.

Roadshows:

You can form a group of women and perform roadshows to create awareness among people on the road.

This kind of awareness programs often does very well because they attract more people and reach a greater percentage of the population.

Roadshows are very interesting to do. Performing skits, acts, and plays in roadshows can be very powerful way to convey really unforgettable messages.

Conduct Programs In Rural Areas:

“Educating the rural folks is very important.”

Rural areas are where breast cancer education are not usually available. Young people can take upon themselves the responsibility of conducting breast cancer awareness programs in the rural areas. They can do this during their vacation period or under a school or college project. Educating the rural folks is very important. Because if they are given proper education about breast cancer then the mortality rate of the disease can be successfully curtailed.

Cause-Related Marketing:

Some companies make profit from this scheme and donate the money generated to the cause. Some of the objects marketed include daily use products. These products are repacked into special wrappers and packs that contain information about breast cancer awareness. Often, these wrappers are made for special edition events. Therefore, their prices are often higher than normal. The funds so collected from these sales are then often given to the charitable firms.

Advertisements:

Many organizations, hospitals, and charitable trusts run advertisements for breast cancer awareness. Nowadays, increasing numbers of the global populace use smart devices to access the net. Therefore, these ads have the potential to reach unlimited numbers of people.

Often, these advertisements are made for products on sale and the profits collected for breast cancer treatments.

Preventive Measures That Can Be Taken To Reduce The Risk

  • Posted By RakSutka.org
  • on September 20,2017

Breast Cancer is a disease that can break women not only physically but also mentally. In this blog, we shall enumerate the steps that should be taken so as to lower the risk of breast cancer.

Know Yourself:

{Note to the developer: Kindly link Know Yourself to the article “An ounce of Prevention is worth a pound of cure”}

The very first step in the preventive measures we should take is to know ourselves and our bodies. Women should know all about their bodies. It is not a bad thing to touch the intimate parts of your body out of curiosity. A teenager should also be knowledgeable about her body as it develops.

To prevent breast cancer, you should know all there is to know about your breasts.

Regular check-ups of your breasts at home by yourself and occasionally by medical professionals is also recommended.

The density of your breast tissue can also play an important role as the denser the tissues the more difficult is it to detect cancer even with a mammogram. This is because healthy breast tissue and the cancerous tumor will show up as white colors in the mammogram. If the amount of fat is high in the breast, then it can be difficult finding cancer tumors on a mammogram.

Get Active:

“Being fit is always a plus point as it strengthens the immune system.”

Being fit is always a plus point as it strengthens the immune system. On the other hand, being overweight has a lot of negative points. Having a daily exercise schedule is a good way to keep breast cancer at bay. Exercise protects us from breast cancer risks in many ways. Daily exercising plays an important role in controlling fat levels in a body.

The amount of fat is directly related to the risk of breast cancer. The reason is that fat also produces estrogen in women. If there is no control over fat, then the breast cancer risk can increase.

By daily exercising, I mean exercising only up to a limit of staying fit. This does not mean that one should start exercising like a professional. Rather, about 40-45 minutes per day for about 5 days of the week is recommended.

Breast Feeding:

Women with newborn babies should continue breastfeeding their babies for at least six months. This is because most studies show that there is a decrease of about 10% in the risk of developing breast cancer in new mothers. Moreover, the milk also helps the newborn baby to strengthen its immune system.

Also, during this period a woman does not menstruate. This helps in keeping the levels of estrogen low in the female body and hence lowers the risk of breast cancer.

Family History:

“One should be intimately aware of their family’s cancer history. “

One should be intimately aware of their family’s cancer history. Although there are only 5-7% cases in which inheritance is a factor in breast cancer cases, why assume any unnecessary risks?

It is not necessary that you should know about cancer causes affecting only female members of your family but also of your father. Sometimes, men can carry genes that cause breast cancer in their children. These genes may include BRCA1 and BRCA2. These not only increase the risk of breast cancer, but also of ovarian cancer and many other types of cancer. It also increases the risk of early prostate and testicular cancer in the children of fathers who carry these genes.

Minimum Radiation Exposure:

Many women work in environments where exposure levels of radiation can be high. For example, women who work near manufacturing plants and nuclear reactor plants may be exposed to radiations that can escalate their risk of breast cancer.

Mammograms and X-rays are also one source of radiation emitters. But in very low amounts. Still, be careful not to go to a very large number of checkups. But this does not mean that regular checkups should be abandoned. This risk also increases in women who have been previously treated for cancers like Hodgkin’s disease. Since they have been exposed to radiation during treatment their risks of developing breast cancer is increased.

Sticking to these preventative measures can all contribute to lowering your risk of developing breast cancer.

A Statistical Study Of Breast Cancer

  • Posted By RakSutka.org
  • on August 27,2017

In the previous article, we discussed the factors which could enhance the risk of getting breast cancer in women. In this article, we are going to examine some breast cancer studies.

Breast cancer is a tumor that develops in the breast tissues of people, predominantly women. These tumors may be small in the beginning. But they grow big with time and start affecting the neighboring cells and organs.

In old times, it was very  difficult to properly diagnose and cure breast cancer. But with time and advancements in technology and research in the field of medical science, this has now become comparatively easy.

What are the different type of breast cancer and their rate of occurrence? This is what we will discuss next.

Types Of Breast Cancer

“There are several types of breast cancer.”

There are several types of breast cancer. Some of these are common while others are not:

Invasive ductal carcinoma:

Invasive ductal carcinoma, IDC is the most commonly found type of breast cancer that occurs in women. About 85% of breast cancer cases are of IDC. IDC is a cancer that affects the ducts that carry milk to the nipples. It later breaks the walls of the ducts carrying milk to the nipples and starts affecting breast cells.

A study revealed that in the United States more than 200,000 women are yearly found to have breast cancer and most of these cases are of the IDC type.

Invasive lobular carcinoma:

Often called infiltrating lobular carcinoma, ILC is the 2nd most common type of breast cancer. In a study it was revealed that in the United States around 180,000 women are yearly diagnosed with breast cancer. Of this number 10 % cases are of the Invasive lobular carcinoma type.

ILC is a cancer that spreads through the milk-producing lobules. With time this tumor breaks the walls of these lobules and then starts affecting the other parts of the breasts.

This type of breast cancer mostly occurs in older women.

Inflammatory breast cancer:

IBC is a type of breast cancer that only rarely occurs. These cases comprise only 3% of the total breast cancer cases. It makes up for its relative rareness by being very aggressive. In this cancer, there are no lump formation. In IBC the lymph nodes of the breasts become blocked and there is no flow to and fro in the breasts. This causes swelling and reddening of the breasts. This type of cancer spreads very fast when compared to other types, so it is very necessary that it be diagnosed and treated at its early stages.

Paget’s disease of the nipple:

This type of breast cancer is very rare and represents only 1% breast cancer cases. This type of cancer develops in the breasts ducts. And later further expands to damage the aureole and nipple of the breasts.

Does Age Matter?

There have been studies showing that older women tend to be more prone to breast cancer than younger women. But that does not mean that the younger women do not get the disease. But as you age the risk of getting breast cancer increases.

The truth is that younger women are usually diagnosed with the types of breast cancers that are easy to treat. While older women develop the types of breast cancers that are rare, tough to treat and more aggressive.

Stages Of Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is categorized in stages like 0,1,2,3 etc. The stages of Breast cancer depend on various factors. These factors include the size of the tumor, if the tumor has spread to the lymph nodes and whether the tumor has spread to other parts of the body.

The main stages of the breast cancer are:

  • Stage 0: Also called pre-cancer stage. In this stage, the tumor is only the size of dot.
  • Stage 1-3: In these stages, it is acknowledged that while the size of the tumor has increased it has not spread to the lymph nodes of the armpits.
  • Stage 4: This stage means that the tumor has started affecting other body parts and is continuously growing.

Of all these stages, stage 4 is considered very dangerous and often cannot be effectively treated.

How Our Genes, Lifestyle And The Surrounding Environment May Affect The Risk Of Our Developing The Disease

  • Posted By RakSutka.org
  • on August 4,2017

In today’s world there are a lot of scary diseases that we as humans are prone to. One of this is cancer. Cancer is a type of tumor that starts inside the body and later starts affecting other parts of the body. It is a disease that happens in stages and if diagnosed early can be treated. On the other hand, cancers that are diagnosed too late can be almost impossible to treat. Cancer can be of different types like thyroid cancer, breast cancer, mouth cancer, blood cancer etc.

Here in this series of articles, we are going to discuss Breast Cancer, its effects, preventive measures to take, and the risks involved that might influence your getting the disease.

As the name implies breast cancer mostly occurs in females, but there have been cases where males were also diagnosed with breast cancer. This is due to a little known fact that males also carry a few estrogen hormones. Breast cancer has multiple types and prevalence.

First, we will talk about how our genes, lifestyle and the environment can affect the risk of the disease.

“Genetics play an important role in Breast Cancer occurrence.”

Relation Of Genetics To Breast Cancer:

There have been a lot of research done in this field that have concluded that Genetics play an important role in Breast Cancer occurrence. It was found that the risk of having breast cancer increased by 1.7% in those women whose ancestors were diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 50.

But there have also been studies that agreed that genetic inheritance had little or no role to play in most the cases. According to these, the cells that cause breast cancer are only present in the breast tissues. So there can be no inheritance factor linked to it.

After some new studies, it was found that the genetic factor of breast cancer depends on the kind of genes that caused the Breast cancer. For example, when breast cancer was caused by the Somatic Mutations in the breast cells then this cannot be due to genetic inheritance.

“The lifestyle plays an important in the occurrence of breast cancer cases people.”

Lifestyle:

The lifestyle plays an important in the occurrence of breast cancer cases people. A healthy lifestyle can decrease the risk of having breast cancer whereas an unhealthy lifestyle can increase the risk of breast cancer. Following are some of the risk factors that considerably increase the possibility of having the disease:

Alcohol:

The women who tend to drink alcohol frequently and in large amounts usually have an increased risk of developing breast cancer. With time if the consumption of alcohol increases then the risk also increases. Moreover, alcohol also has bad knock-on effects on the health. So, it is advisable that you limit your drinking and it would be much better if it totally is stopped.

Weight:

Being overweight is never considered a good thing. Overweight women are prone to many other diseases as well. Obese people tend to have a weak immune system when compared to other people.

When adult women are overweight the risk of developing breast cancer is increased even after menopause.

Contraceptive Pills:

Many studies do not show a clear relation between contraceptive pills and breast cancer. But in some of the cases, it was observed that the women who take these pills on a regular basis do have an increased risk of contracting breast cancer. However, the risk of getting breast cancer is rare in women under 40 whether they use pills or not.

HRT:

HRT is also known as Hormone Replacement Therapy. Sometimes it is recommended to women with menopause disorders. But the risk of breast cancer increases when they take HRT. Conversely, the risk also decreases when HRT therapy is stopped.

“Our surroundings play a very important role in Breast Cancer cases.”

Role Of The Surrounding Environment:

Our surroundings play a very important role in Breast Cancer cases. A healthy surrounding is always best for our health and comfort. Here are some environmental factors that can cause increased risk of breast cancer.

Radiation:

Radiation can cause many types of cancer if someone is exposed to them in large quantities and for long periods. These radiations may be present in the atmosphere or come from space. They are also produced during atomic bomb explosions and nuclear reactor accidents. Women who are exposed to the radiations caused by the atomic weapons explosions tend to have an increased risk of breast cancer.

Night Shift Workers:

This theory is not yet proved, but many researchers believe that the women who work continuously on night shift may have increased their risk of developing breast cancer than their counterparts who work in regular hours on the day shift.
